For a long time now a quilting friend of mine has talked about how fabulous is the International Quilt Show held in Paducah, Kentucky. I believed her but I guess not totally. (Sorry, Nancy!) I was bowled over by the gorgeous works of art. These weren't your Granny's patchwork quilts made for totally utilitarian purposes. Many of the ones I saw could easily be shown in a museum. Unfortunately, my camera battery quit on me after just a few photographs but I still had to show some of them. There were quilts from, of course, the United States, United Kingdom, Korea, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa. The country that almost stole the show because of their quilters' intricate designs, beautiful colors, and fine craftsmanship was JAPAN!! People would gasp when they'd turn a corner and be confronted with them.
