Trip to Northeast

August 20 continued...
After getting the tour of their place, Rob went online to order Chinese takeout. There is a service there where you can go to a site, see all the restaurants that deliver in your zip code, click on the one you're interested in, then check the items you want to order. A short while later, the delivery guy will be standing at your door with a pizza, Chinese, sandwiches, Indian, sushi -- whatever you want. As we ate a late dinner, we watched an old home movie from around 1993. It was fun seeing Amanda at around 18 or 19 and Rob at 15 or 16, baby Sarah, and infant Randal. I think Cassie got a laugh out of seeing Rob's bushy sideburns.

August 21
Cassie left early for work. Jerry, Rob, and I went into New York City to the Federal Building which is right across the street from the Stock Exchange. There are long, steep steps on the front of the building, a large statue of George Washington, (In that building is where he took the oath of office.), and lots of foot traffic making it the ideal place for people-watching and photographing. Rob stands on the pedestals to surreptitiously photograph people on the street below. He then selects the ones he wants to use, makes adjustments, maybe photo-shops them, then uses the images in the paintings he's developing for the show in Paris. We spent some time just watching the process and listening to his explanation about how he chooses which people to photograph.
